Pie Dough
Ingredients:
AP Flour (3 cups)
Shortening (1 2/3 cup)
Egg (beaten, 1)
Granulated Sugar (2 tbsp)
White Vinegar (1 tbsp)
Salt (1 tsp)
Water (amount varies on how big your egg is)
Instructions:
In a large bowl, mix together flour, sugar, salt, and shortening. Cut together with a pastry cutter (I find using a potato masher works perfectly too). If you do not have a pastry cutter or potato masher you can cut using two butter knives.
Cut ingredients until they are mixed really well and resemble pebbles.
In a separate bowl, beat an egg. Add in vinegar to your egg mix and whisk well. To this, add enough cold water so that in total everything measures to 3/4 cup of liquid.
Add this liquid to the bowl of dry ingredients and mix well with a silicone spoon. Once mostly incorporated, start using your hands to knead the dough until thoroughly combined.
In total this will make enough dough for two pies. Once you’ve got your dough ball, divide into two halves. Divide again. This will give you a half for the bottom of the pie and a half section of dough for the top
