Where Food Meets Feelings

Hii!

Welcome to Moodi Appetite, a hub of all things food and fun.

My name is Alia Amoudi – the chef and creative behind the scenes.

Moodi Appetite started as a  means to express myself creatively and connect with other foodie friends. Nowadays, its a place where I can share more than recipes, but also the stories and people behind those recipes. The constant through it all has been the Moodi philosophy, to “Eat What You Feel”.

As you browse through this corner of the internet, please keep this motto in mind. My hope is to inspire your cooking and satisfy your appetite, no matter your mood!

a Pinch of me

  • I grew up in a Middle Eastern and Eastern European household, where family and food is very much ingrained in the culture. Both sides of my family are big, and full of naturally gifted kitchen alchemists. My parents especially had a large influence on my style of cooking: using simple, natural ingredients and believing wholeheartedly that food was and still is the only medicine.

As I got older it was people like Anthony Bourdain, Andrew Zimmern, and fellow food-lover friends that fueled my love for cooking into a deep passion.

  • An obvious first is Middle Eastern and Mediterranean food. A close second is Korean food, which I had first encountered in college while working as a server in a Korean restaurant. My love for Korean culture and Asian cuisine has only fermented stronger and stronger with time, like a good kimchi.

The ingredients you’ll catch me using always: lemons, paprika, basmati rice, olive oil, and YOGURT.

  • When I’m not cooking, I’m likely playing outside with my animals and loved ones. I love to garden, fish, roller-skate, and watch endless reruns of MasterChef.
